Beach Ball Elena
It was a hot summer day as the temperature rose up to a scorching 100° as Elena Maxwell lied down on the couch trying to cool off from the sweltering heat. Despite having the AC and the fan both turned on at the same time, the heat waves became too much for Elena to bear. All she could do is try to wait it out until the night comes when the temperature starts to cool down. But she couldn’t be patient enough as she wanted to do something instead which made her think as she sat up on the couch thinking about her plan. “Staying inside this house waiting for the AC to kick in just won’t simply do in this kind of hot weather,” Elena complained as she swiped sweat off her forehead. “What I should be doing instead of sitting here is I need to cool off at a nice sandy beach.” The moment Elena mentioned the word “beach”, the idea suddenly sparked over her head like an idea lamp had its lightbulb replaced with a new bright one. How to End the Day
Word count: 1977 Themes: inflation, riding, popping The empty halls of a vacant home echos with absence, it's owner away for a mundane job that he works tirelessly for. Then, a scratch at the door, keys and claws scraping against the plastic door, before a CLICK, and the door swinging open, revealing the home owner. Standing in the doorway stood a bipedal German Shepard. His fur blacker than the night sky, punctuated with lime green tufts of fur around his ears that stand out like a visibility jacket. His left ear is a sharply

That Ballooney Feeling
This morning, a helium tank arrives at my door as a gift from you to me. It’s said to give you that “ballooney feeling”. Since then, I’ve been busy playing with balloons with this tank, but no sign of this “ballooney feeling”. Then, I have an idea. I take the few balloons I already inflated and stuff them in my clothes. Then I inflate one more balloon and suck up the helium out of it. Now I look and sound like I’ve been inflated with helium. Shortly, I hear a hissing sound as the balloons slip out of my clothes. I try to grab them again, but I find that I can barely bend my arms anymore. My belly shoots out from under my shirt, and my voice is still squeaky. From there I realize that I actually am inflating with helium. This ballooney feeling really does exist, and it feels so…nice. I manage to find out why it’s happening, too. What I’ve just inhaled was some sort of special helium, experiential gas that makes balloons stay inflated much longer, several months on end. It’s not
